Cookies are small text files that a website can save on your device when you visit it. They serve to remember information from one page to the next — for example an active session or a preference.
They are distinguished by purpose (essential, statistical, profiling), by duration (session, deleted when the browser closes, or persistent) and by origin (first-party, from the site you visit, or third-party). Similar technologies — such as localStorage or tracking pixels — fall under the same logic and the same commitment described here.
Purge.cc was created to remove tracking from the web, not to add more. As a result the site is designed to work with the fewest possible cookies — ideally none.
No advertising cookies, no profiling cookies, no fingerprinting, no third-party analytics, no social pixels. We never sell or share your data — the only measurement is anonymous, aggregate and self-hosted, and only with your consent.

Essential storage is strictly necessary to deliver the requested service, so under applicable law it does not require your consent. On Purge.cc this comes down to a single item:
We use Umami, a self-hosted, privacy-friendly analytics tool, to understand in aggregate which pages are useful. It is loaded only after you opt in through the cookie banner, and it is cookieless: no persistent identifier is stored on your device.
Umami collects aggregate, non-identifying data only. It builds no cross-site profile, uses no fingerprinting, and we never sell or share the figures with third parties. We use no Google Analytics, Plausible or any advertising measurement tool.
You can withdraw or grant consent at any time from the cookie preferences button in the bottom-left corner of every page.
The site's pages do not incorporate social widgets, embedded videos or advertising scripts that set third-party cookies. Some linked services can, however, set their own cookies only if you interact directly with them.
We have no direct control over these cookies: we invite you to consult their respective privacy notices.
You can control, block or delete cookies at any time from your browser settings. Keep in mind that disabling essential cookies may impair some functions of the site.
Analytics are off by default and load only if you explicitly opt in. So if your browser sends a Do Not Track (DNT) or Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal and you take no action, nothing is loaded and you are not measured — the privacy-protective default already matches what those signals ask for.
We set no advertising or profiling cookies in any case, so there is no cross-site tracking to turn off.
The essential consent record is stored on the basis of our legitimate interest in correctly delivering the service (art. 6.1.f GDPR) and is exempt from consent under the ePrivacy Directive. Umami analytics is non-essential and is loaded only with your prior explicit consent (art. 6.1.a GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time.
We may update this cookie policy to reflect technical or regulatory changes. The version and the update date are always shown at the top of the page; any substantial changes will be announced, where appropriate, also via newsletter.
